LEARNING AT VIS

At VIS, we believe that futuristic needs mandate a shift in education from mere amassing and regurgitation of knowledge, to developing skills for holistic development. The focus is on a learning experience that synergizes the growth of the intellectual, physical, emotional, social as well as spiritual. The integration of essential subjects and skills helps foster in our children the strength, values, and vision to become not only compassionate and responsible Indians but also conscious global citizens.

FOUNDATIONAL YEARS  (NURSERY TO CLASS II)

The initial years at VIS are five years of sheer joy, experiences, and learning while the children explore the environment around them. A strong foundation, therefore, is laid for years to come whilst the children learn to read, write and solve problems independently. Free thinking, guided exploration, collaboration, and free expression are hallmarks of Venkateshwar International School. Learning during these years is organized around the four foundational conditions that are important for children to grow and Flourish- Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression. The team of mentors comprises professionally trained, experienced, and nurturing mother-teachers who are naturally inclined towards forming an affectionate bond with the children, thereby encouraging a non-threatening atmosphere of learning at school. The curriculum is designed around themes that encourage responsibility towards sustainable development; is integrated to encompass a holistic understanding of concepts; and focuses on promoting each child’s unique abilities.

PREPARATORY  (CLASSES III TO V)

  • At the Preparatory level, the school encourages learning through exploration and play, moving beyond textbooks by means of engaging in activities aimed to arrive at an understanding through real-life experiences. The program of study aims to develop communication skills, build self-esteem, inculcate ethical values as well as nurture creative thinking.
  • The teaching pedagogy is child-centric and activity-oriented using numerous teaching aids: puppets, flashcards, pictures, power points, storytelling, dramatization, role play, etc. The endeavor is to nurture the child in all realms of life - social, moral, cognitive, emotional, aesthetic, creative, and physical.

MIDDLE& (CLASSES VI TO VIII)

  • The Middle Wing learners are in a transitional phase, moving from childhood to adolescence. At VIS, we recognize the need to develop an emotional equilibrium in them that will sustain them for life and turn them into empathetic listeners as well as effective communicators.
  • Classroom teaching is supplemented with theatre activities, hands-on projects, live experiments, research work, presentations, and the use of technology. The focus is on the acquisition of critical thinking skills, decision-making abilities, and holistic development through discussion-based and analysis-based learning.
  • Varied workshops are conducted throughout the year that provides the emotional anchor to keep our young students well-rooted and confident.

SECONDARY  (CLASSES IX TO XII)

  • The Senior Wing comprising Classes IX to XII is where our young learners transform into competent and confident young individuals ready to meet the challenges of the future. They are groomed not only to excel in the CBSE Board Exams but to acquire essential skills to carve a niche for themselves in today’s competitive world. Vocational education is integrated with mainstream so as to allow children to gain practical experience in their chosen career paths.
  • VIS updates its curriculum annually to keep pace with the latest in technology and modifications in the CBSE syllabus. The curriculum is designed to ensure the physical, intellectual, and social development of students via varied activities, audio-visual stimuli, projects, and presentations.
  • Extensive use of technology not only deepens student learning in the content areas but also empowers the learners to meet all upcoming challenges.
  • Career counseling is available for classes IX to XIII to guide them on career-related issues.
