All the teachers of VIS attended a work shop on the POCSO Act 2012 on 21st September 2017. The Speaker dwelled upon the following points during the workshop:

·        Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act 2012: It came into force on 14th November 2012 along with its rules. The model guidelines to implement POCSO was formulated by Ministry of Women and Child Development and sent to the state governments / union territory’s administrations in September 2013.

·        POCSO clearly defines who are deemed as children and what constitutes as Child Sexual Abuse.

·        The need for POCSO in India.

·        Measures to be taken to prevent Child Sexual Abuse.

·        A group activity was conducted to better understand the different aspects of the Act.

·        FAQs on POCSO were explained through another activity.

·        The session concluded by showing an animated video on Hold Alert, Touch Alert, See Alert, Alone Alert and Talk Alert.


It was a great learning experience for the entire staff of VIS to gain an effective understanding of the POCSO Act 2012.

          The students of Classes I & II poured out their creativity and talent at the art and craft exhibition held on 16 September 2017. It was an aesthetic sight to see the beautiful and varied craft items prepared by the students. The collaborative efforts of teachers and students was appreciated by one and all. The students put up various exhibits as per the theme topics : Class I – Nature, Class II - Festivals.



            Venkateshwar International School, Sector 10 Dwarka, conducted various activities under the SWACHCH BHARAT PAKHWADA CAMPAIGN from 1st to 15th September, 2017. Students of classes I to VIII participated enthusiastically in the campaign and it was a huge success.

            Students of Classes I and II visited a restaurant to encourage group cohesiveness, instill table manners and hygiene they need to follow before and after eating.  A poster making event (12th sept’17) was organized under the theme ‘Clean Delhi’ where students of class III spread the message of maintaining sanitation through their creative strokes.  Students of Classes IV and V whole heartedly participated in Essay writing (1st Sept’17) where they wrote essays on the topic ‘Importance of cleanliness in our lives’.   They also used their creativity and presented a story on the topics like keeping the environment clean and making our city a beautiful place to live in.  The students penned the importance of cleanliness and hygiene practices. Students of class VI participated in poster making competition, class VII participated in the painting competition and class VIII participated in the Essay writing competition and the theme of the campaign was `CLEANLINESS AND HYGIENE PRACTISES IN SCHOOL’. Around 500 students participated in these activities and the best essays, posters and paintings were shortlisted and uploaded on the school website.  The students also took a pledge that they would maintain cleanliness in their homes and neighbourhood. They would do their bit to contribute to the beautiful nature and not spoil it.

            Training sessions of maids were conducted on a regular basis by their supervisor wherein they were instructed to weed out old newspapers, files, broken furniture etc. Twice a day maids were instructed to inspect the toilets for cleanliness purpose and to ensure that there is no water-logging in the adjoining areas of the drinking water stations.  Students also cleaned their classes on a weekly basis and other groups volunteered to clean the nearby areas of the school premises.  Also to segregate the waste materials into separate trash bins, different coloured bins were installed in the corridors on all floors and the canteen too.

              On September 1, 2017 an Inter house Heritage Quiz was conducted by Ms. Meena Rakhi and Ms. Namrata Nanoo in the school auditorium. The quiz comprised of seven rounds (Indian history, geography, sports, heritage round sites, temples and monuments, audio & visual rounds and rapid fire round).  

              The quiz was quite informative and intriguing. All the teachers and students enjoyed it a lot.

                The Prize Distribution Ceremony for the Cultural, Literary and Sports awards for the session 2016-17 was held on September 7, 2017.  The meritorious students who strived for success with sheer hard work, determination and focus to win numerous state level and Interschool awards were felicitated by the school Director, Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura.  Her inspiring words on the occasion motivated the students to soar higher in all arenas, academic as well as co-curricular.

                    The fourth Sankalp Sahodaya Inter School Symposium, The Quest, was held at Basava International School on 29 August, 2017 on the topic “Aren’t we, the face book denizens, conceding our privacy to two minutes of fame?”  Harshita Srinivas XI SD and Arshdeep Oberoi XI RD bagged the first prize in this symposium. They presented a Power Point presentation and spoke the need of responsible use of social media and suggestions for removing the obstacles.
