The interact club of Adarsh Public School, Vikaspuri, organised the 19th Smt. Gyan Devi Memorial, Inter school debate competition on 18th November, 2017.  Saanvi Puri and Devat Rai Jha were adjudged the best speaker and first runners up for the junior category.

Dishita Puri and Vanshika Bhatt were adjudged the best speaker and first runners up, for the senior category.  Team VIS was adjudged the best team and was awarded the rolling trophy for 2017.

    On 17th November, an enlightening workshop was conducted by the representatives of Kent University, UK for the students of Venkateshwar International School.  The resource person was Ms. Stella Bolaki, a professor of English at the Kent University.  The workshop aimed to teach students the finer nuances of creative writing with the help of a coming of age narrative titled Eleven by Sandra Cisneros, an acclaimed writer.  The students thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and interacted freely with the resource person.

      Skype is a great tool in education that enables teachers to inspire the next generation of global citizens through transformative learning. VIS students of Class XI SD had an impressive Skype session with Aayush Agarwal, a data scientist at Microsoft Redmond, US on 7 November, 2017. He is an Indian who had moved to the US a couple of years ago to pursue a Masters in Data Science.  

      Artificial Intelligence was the main topic of discussion. Aayush explained concepts like machine learning, chatbots, weak and strong AI to name a few. He also emphasised that AI in the future would facilitate various tasks performed by humans and not replace them. He even answered students’ queries on career and time management. The session undoubtedly was an enriching experience for all the students and their active participation very clearly depicted their enthusiasm.

        Together We Can Challenge - 2017

        The Nirmal Bhartia School hosted this event, which was held on 17th August 2017. Ten schools from in and around  Delhi participated. The challenge was to create a working model of a satellite to study the Sun.

        Team of six students – Harshbir Ahuja, Ishan Mukundan, Aryan Sahni, Tanmay Arora, Aaditya Khurana, Kartik Khera participated in the event and took up the challenge of making a semi- working model of a satellite to study the Sun. 

        ‘THE URAOS PROBE ’, was the name unanimously given to the created satellite. This name is a tribute to Late Prof. Shri Udupi Ramachandra Rao, the man who had envisioned India’s first satellite the Aryabhatta. They also prepared a presentation depicting the enriching experience of the entire journey.

        We won the first position for the best design of the satellite. A cash prize of INR 5000 was also awarded as an appreciation of our efforts.

          SAE AWIM 2017: Jet-toy Challenge

          AWIM (A World in Motion) 2017, was organised by  SAE Northern India Section in association with Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) and other Automotive Partners on 24th October , 2017 at Hotel Mapple Emerald, Delhi.
          Students were required to make balloon-powered toy cars from inexpensive, common materials. Their challenge was to design an appealing toy that performs in a specific way, such as travels far, carries weight, stops at a required distance or goes fast. 

          Nishartha Baruah, Harivansh Mehta, Vedha Malik and Pranavi Gupta of Class VI participated in Jet Toy Challenge. Ms Monika Mangla Singhal, Science TGT atteneded the Master Teacher Training Program and mentored the students during their preparation phase.

          Our school was First Runner Up in Jet Toy Challenge and have qualified for National Olympics to be held in Pune in December 2017. Our team was also awarded first prize for best presentation of Dream Car Design.

            GURUPURAB ASSEMBLY

            Keeping with the secular ethos of the school, the students of Primary Wing celebrated Gurupurab, to mark the Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The students of III DD prepared a medley of activities on this occasion to commemorate and remember the birth and philosophy of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikhism. The students chanted the pious Shabad Kirtan which left everyone spellbound, soaked in spiritual fervor.

              Tanvi Jain of class XI won the 1st prize in the senior category & Apoorva Singh of class IX, won the consolation prize, in the Drawing and Painting Competition organised by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment along with National Bal Bhawan on 2nd November 2017.

              The prize distribution was held on 14 November 2017 in Pravasi Bharti Kendra. Tanvi was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- along with a certificate and Apoorva Singh too was awarded a certificate.

                In the CBSE Zonals, Sanket Tomar, Vipul Mehta, Rohit Dev Solanki and Yuvraj Singh Sangwan made us proud by winning the Gold in Lawn Tennis.  Our team was ranked at first position amongst all the Delhi Schools in the Central region.

                Moreover, in the CBSE Nationals, held in Erode, Tamilnadu from fifth November to twelfth November 2017.  Our team comprising of Sanket Tomar, Vipul Mehta, Rohit Dev Solanki and Yuvraj won gold medals.  They also won the team championship.  Sanket Tomar won a bronze in the individual category and Vipul Mehta won a gold in the mixed doubles category.

A workshop was held by a counselling psychologist Ms. Rashi Khanna from Fortis Healthcare, on 8th November 2017 for class X designed to help students improve their study skills.

                    Remarkable Achievement at the International Level!

                    Anushka Bansal, a student of IX Rockview, has won the third prize in the Children's Category (ages up to 14) in the 2017 International Essay Contest for young people. This contest was organised at an International level by The Goi Peace Foundation, Japan, and endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, Japanese National Commission for  UNESCO, Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education, Japan Broadcasting Corporation, Japan private High School Federation and Nikkei Inc. This program is an activity of the UNESCO Global  Action Programme on for Sustainable Development. Out of over 15,000 entries from 155 different countries, she is the proud recipient of a certificate and gift acknowledging her flair for creative writing. She is the only Indian to have won a prize in the Children's Category with other prize winners being from countries like Bosnia, Vietnam, Pakistan, New Zealand and Japan among others. She has been recognized on an International platform for her 700 word essay on the topic 'Learning from Nature', adding another feather in the VIS cap. 

                    Anushka has a passion for creative writing, owing to which, she runs a popular blog which has been viewed by thousands of people worldwide.  She takes deep interest in poetry and one of her poems has been published on an online international platform where it has been read by viewers and critics from all over the world.

                      Ramjas School, R K Puram conducts an inter school tech symposium, DynamiX, every year. The aim is to provide a platform to future tech-geeks who have the potential to change the world. This year too Dynamix was held on 24 October 2017 and around 20 schools from Delhi/NCR participated in various events like Quiz, Group discussion, C++ programming, computer gaming to name a few.

                      VIS bagged the second prize in RobolympiX! Rupak Poddar (XI SD) and Rahul Madan (XI SIP) developed a robot, DROID which competed in a series of bot fights with robots of other schools and the total points scored in all the games decided the ultimate winner.

                        Workshop on Career Counselling

                        On 27th October, 2017 a workshop was held by Council for American Education to guide the students of classes XI and XII about their careers.  It was wholely based on pursuing higher education abroad, specifically in the United States.  It was beautifully presented by Mr. Rajesh Arya, President, Council for American Education who imparted his priceless knowledge and some very valuable information to create awareness and remove certain taboos related to studying abroad.

                          VIS students participated in an Annual International Film Festival “We Care” devoted to films on disability held at the Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, Dwarka campus from 10 to 12 October 2017.  Two students from our school won awards for this painting and photography competition.  Apoorva Singh of class IX Rockview bagged the 3rd place and Yatin Seth of class XI Daisydale received the 1st position.  The guest of honour, Professor Shri Rajeev Kumar Panaa gave away the prizes.

                            Magnetotech – An Electricfying Experience

                            On 23 Aug 2017, an event called Magnetotech was organized by Mount Carmel School, Dwarka, New Delhi. The competition focused on preparing working/semi-working models of devices/equipments/representation of items which could be of use to society with the help of magnets.  Aaditya Khurana (Class VI) and Aaryan Sahni (Class VII) made a portable-USB-charger, which used magnets to re-charge batteries. The device could convert mechanical energy to electrical energy.  Thus, a simple rotating movement of a lever could recharge the battery. 

                            The students won the 1st prize and made the school proud.
