Keeping this in pursuit, an adventure and confidence building trip was organized for students of classes IV and V from 23rd may to 26th May 2017. The trip commenced from stay at ‘Chail Villas Tree House’- a beautiful Resort. After breakfast and some rest, the students headed for rocking adventure activities…. Burma Bridge, Balance Rope and Commando Net. In the evening, they enjoyed  bonfire and dancing on some foot tapping numbers followed by dinner. The next day, the students visited the World’s highest Cricket Ground in Chail. Then they headed to ‘The Chail Palace’ and the majestic view of the Maharaja’s Palace left all spell bound. Children also enjoyed rides and activities in the green luscious grounds of the Palace. They came back to the Resort by evening and after snacks they had some fun filled indoor activities. They were then taken for some more adventurous activities which included Rock Climbing and Rappelling. On the way back, students were taken to Shimla. They visited the famous Christ Church, the second oldest in North India. They experienced solace by praying quietly in the Church for a few minutes. They also had the opportunity to visit one of the oldest state libraries situated there. While marching on the Mall Road, students were enthralled to see the beautiful dance performed in the procession taken out to promote the culture and tradition of Mandi. With all these beautiful memories to cherish forever, students safely and happily reached back Delhi. The joy and thrill to meet their parents was a sight worth seeing. It was indeed a memorable trip for everyone as children developed skills like self-confidence, sharing-caring, un-packing, packing and they also learnt to be independent. The icing on the cake was that students’ behaviour and mannerism which was appreciated by Hotel’s staff. Teachers were also praised for their continuous motherly care and support throughout the trip by the Parents. Altogether it was their First Solo Trip and indeed an enriching experience.

    The International Yoga Day was celebrated in VIS on 21 June 2017. The morning started with the address of the Vice Principal, Dr. Manisha Sharma, highlighting the importance of Yogasanas in one’s life. She chanted various shlokas and explained their importance in uplifting the well being of our life. This soul searching and healing session was followed by various yogasanas performed by the students and teachers under the guidance of Ms. Monica Kamra. This rejuvenated them and brought a smile of relaxation and happiness on every face which was an indication of the fruitful session they had.

      VIS students of class XI (Computer Science batch) attended the Summer Internship programme at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi from 5th June to 10 June’17. The objective of the internship was to impart quality education to students which would help them convert their theoretical knowledge into practical comprehension and innovate new ideas. Students were introduced to the technical aspects of the functioning of a drone and Android Studio programming to encode fitness bands and smart watches. Students also had an exciting session on MatLab. Using the language, the group was able to successfully design programmes that calculated complex mathematical equations, plotted graphs etc. The students were also told how to use this technology to design face trackers. The course was very well planned. Over all, it was an enriching experience!

        A trip to Bhutan was organised for students of classes VI to XI in the third week of May 2017.  The students visited the School of Arts & Crafts, The National Library and saw the largest book of the world there.  Chorten Memorial was another landmark site in Thimpu which was not to be missed.  The scenic beauty during the drive to Dochula Pass was a treat for the eyes.  They also saw the Royal Palace which was magnificent.  The trek to the Taktsang – Tigernest Monastery of Paro which is a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site and temple complex located in the cliffside of the upper Paro valley was very adventurous. This place is believed to be the reincarnation of Lord Buddha as Rinpoche after 1200 years of Buddha’s death. It was an amazing and memorable trip which will always be cherished.

          On 24 May 2017, a trip to Nainital was organized for the students of classes VI and VII.  The students started their day with exploring the natural beauty of the surroundings and relaxing with friends. They enjoyed the sightseeing and learnt about the flora and fauna at Bhimtal Lake.  The students also visited the Tea Factory at Bhowali. They enjoyed the open Jeep ride and came to know about the tea plantation, processing and packaging. They visited Naukuchiyatal too which is surrounded by green oak forests from all sides. 

          Last but not the least they visited the snow point which is one of the highest point to watch the majestic Himalayas and even the snow capped mountains like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Nanda Kot. 

          This educational trip was very enriching and fun filled.
