To sensitize the children and to mark the importance of Earth Day, poster making house activity was conducted on 21st April’17 where the students of class IV & V participated enthusiastically. The theme of the Poster Making competition was given as “Save Earth”. Children showed their concern towards the climate change, air pollution, and water scarcity through their drawings. All the students gave an educational and informative message through their posters and slogans on save water, reduce pollution, tree plantation etc.

    Behtar India Campaign

    Behtar India Campaign, a joint venture between NDTV & DHFL, aims to work towards a better future for India.

    The Fourth Collaborative Social Responsibility Convention of the campaign was held on 18 April 2017 at Shangri-La's Eros Hotel, New Delhi.  The workshop was attended by        Ms. Namrata Nanoo and six students of class VIII and IX. The core thought of the campaign is to mobilise students, ordinary citizens and corporates to join together and create mass awareness. The   domains of the campaign– Health, Hygiene and Environment.

    The convention was hosted by Mr. Vikram alongwith a panel of eminent personalities like

    ·         Ms. Gowri  Ishwaran, CEO, the Global Education and Leadership Foundation;

    ·         Mr. Kandarp Singh, Managing Director, Tetra Pak( South Asia);

    ·         Mr. Anoop Pabby, CEO and MD, DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance Company Ltd;

    ·         Mr. Ramesh Vaswani, Executive Vice Chairman, Intex Technologies India Ltd.;

    ·         Ms. Mohini Daljeet Singh, Chief Executive, Max India Foundation

    ·         Mr. Avijeet Kumar, Director, CAF India.

    The Convention mainly discussed about the problems faced by India and  how they can be

    curbed.

    The Award Ceremony will be held in October and the achievers will be  felicitated by the famous film actor, Mr. Sushant Singh Rajput, the Ambassdor of the ‘Behtar India Campaign’.

      Leadership camp for classes X-XII was held on 22 April 2017.  The programme started with a few Ice-Breaking games through which the students were divided into ten groups namely Splendid Sapphires, Endearing Emeralds, Dazzling Diamonds, Promising Pearls, Tranquil Topazes, Gifted Garnets, Amazing Ambers, Radiant Rubies, Jovial Jades and Majestic Moonstones.

      Each group was allotted two to three teacher observers too.  The leadership camp is an annual feature of the VIS calendar in which the students fight it out the whole day to prove their mettle and exhibit leadership skills.  The various activities in which they took part were – Jigsaw Puzzle, G.K. Quiz, Vision – creating a power point presentation on current topics, cooking without fire and innovate to renovate.  The students also presented skits depicting various problems in the school along with their solutions.  Leadership qualities like co-operation, decision making, aesthetic sense, problem solving and prudence were tested through the different games and activities.  The teachers observed the students and rated them on various parameters to prove their worth as a part of the students’ council.  The camp ended with a meditation session – refresh you MBS – Mind, Body and Soul.

        The much awaited Leadership camp of the Middle Wing was held on 22 April 2017.  The full day camp began with the morning assembly wherein the Headmistress, Ms. Meenakshi Malhotra, addressed the participants apprising them as to what was expected out of them during the day and as leaders.  This was followed by some innovative ice-breaking games in which the students participated with unflagging enthusiasm.  After a sumptuous breakfast began the competition in earnest with an array of activities like GK quiz, skit, cooking without fire, A to Z game etc.  All designed to enable the students to display their creative, oratory, organizational and presentation skills.  The camp was successful in enhancing the leadership traits of the students in a fun-filled environment.

          In an endeavour to educate the students about the pressing needs of our planet and ways to be adopted to conserve it, the students of Class II SD presented an assembly in which they depicted the Earth in two ways- one with greenery all around and the other which had been intensely polluted due to various factors. They emphasized the three R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to save the precious resources. The assembly culminated with a foot tapping number- Mother Earth, Mother Earth. As an extension to the theme, assemblies were conducted by the students of Class V RD and V LD on ‘Power Conservation’ and ‘Water Conservation’ wherein the students enumerated the various ways adopted to save the valuable resource for future generation through a powerful street play. The students pledged to be defenders and friends of the Planet Earth. The assemblies highlighted the urgent need to start managing the Earth with love and respect.

                  Special Assembly on Baisakhi

                  Keeping up with the tradition of celebrating all the festivals with great fervor and gaiety, a special assembly on Baisakhi was presented by the students of V Springdale on 12 April 2017.

                  The school premises were aptly decorated.  The students explained the importance of the festival by showcasing the Punjabi culture.  The establishment of Khalsa Pant was depicted through a skit, Dhol beats and Punjabi folk music added to the excitement.

                      An assembly was conducted by the teachers of class I on 6 April 2017. Teachers used hand puppets and enacted the emotions by making happy, sad, surprised, angry and tired faces on the song ‘Hello, How are you? which was thoroughly enjoyed by the students of class I. All the teachers, co teachers and helpers introduced themselves. The idea was to make the little ones comfortable in the new environment.

                        On 5th April, 2017 Young Angels hosted a Magic Show for classes I and II. The children were excited to see the magician in a colourful attractive attire. The music added to the fun and excitement. He made many flowers out of a single flower and stick out of a rope which amazed the kids even more. Every trick that he played was an innovative glimpse of happiness for the children. The show lasted for about 40 minutes. It was a fruitful show as students had expressions of thrill, surprise and happiness on their faces.

                          The school conducted an Orientation Programme for the parents of students of Grade I with a view to harness the maximum involvement of parents in guiding their children towards a successful future.  The programme, conducted in the school auditorium, began with the welcoming of the School Director and Founder Principal, Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura by the Headmistress, Mrs. Anuradha Kumar.  The Director enlightened the audience with her words of wisdom and acclimatized them with the functioning of the school.  She also mentioned about the paradigm shift from the traditional teaching practices to effective pedagogy, thus leading to the holistic development of every child.  The students got an insight into the activity based teaching pedagogy practiced in the school through various games being played with them.  The parents were then introduced to the class teachers of class I.  It was a stimulating and enriching session.

                            An Orientation Programme for the parents of the incoming class VI students was held on 7 April 2017 in the school auditorium.  The programme, conducted by the School Director, Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura, aimed at familiarising the parents with the examination system of the middle wing as well as acquainting them with the latest teaching methodologies based on the 21st century skills incorporated in the school curriculum.  The parents were also apprised of the physical and emotional changes occurring in children of this age.  The interactive session towards the end gave the parents an insight into the school’s activity based teaching, leaving them thoroughly enriched by the entire session.
